A Very Fine and Palatial Pair of French Baroque Revival Style 19th Century Carved Marble Sitting Lions, the very realistic carved pair of posing lions with fine attention to detail, each resting on front paw on a Coat-of-Arms Shield. Unsigned. Circa: 1890.
Resting and posing lion sculptures like these symbolize and are associated with royalty, nobility, opulence, elegance, and leadership. These types of lion sculptures were often placed at the entrances to palaces, châteaux, mansions, and villas throughout Europe.
