Wonderful, work-of-art-sculpture of a standing herron. Anyone who has ever tried to pursue a career in any kind of artform knows how incredibly difficult it is to be unique and to be truly gifted in creating. You need to at least have 'the eye' to see the details and to see what makes each animal or flower or human unique and then you also have to have the skills to create that what you see out of a material like wood or iron, or clay or on paper etc. Having that combination of talents already is extremely rare, but there are artists who take it even a step further. Although we are speculating, we feel that the artist whom created this amazing sculpture, actually created this herron in the way a frog or a fish would see and experience a herron. We think so, because this slightly stylized herron has a scary and mean look about him. Well, if you would be on this large bird's menu then this predator would probably look much more scary and daunting through your eyes as well. The unique style, the quality of the workmanship, the excellent condition, the perfect and natural posture of this herron and his amazing patina are what make this work of art really stand out. Imagine the confidence with which the artist must have hand carved this sculpture, because one mistake and this work of art would never have been. Apart from one professional restauration to the neck (one that can only be noticed in close up), this unique antique is exactly like it was when it left the artisan's studio more than 100 years ago.
