About the Item
Bronze sculpture with two patinas, signed Georges Van Der Straeten (1856–1941) and bearing the seal of the Société des Bronzes de Paris.
Van Der Straeten is a representative artist of the Belle Époque and the Art Nouveau movement. Of Belgian origin, he worked in Paris, where he received several awards, attesting to his great technical mastery and the quality of his creations.
Here, the artist creates a touching work depicting the bust of a smiling and mischievous young Parisian woman.
The ingénue, dressed in a draped dress and wearing a wide ribbon holding back her long hair, raises her hand to her face.
She laughs shyly, with a mischievous air.
This playful, elegant woman is depicted in all her candor by the artist.
