About the Item

An gilt and lacquered wood Buddha head with displayed on a metal and Lucite stand. stunning presence with its refined features and amazing details. The carving is of exquisite quality. The eyes were inlaid with contrasting marbles. The icon features a point face, arched eyebrow, a subtle smile, long earlobes that touch the shoulders. The ushnisha is now missing. The style of the facial expression strongly indicates its origin to be from Laos or border area of neighboring Burma and Thailand, as the border of these countries shifted throughout history. The surface of the piece is magnificent with beautiful patina that only comes with ages. We believe that this statue is dated to at least 18th century perhaps even earlier. The head itself is 12.5 in height.
