About the Item

Fine quality well cast dark olive green patinated bronze of a young male Skater of generous size, complete with its original well grained Sienna Marble Circular Stepped Base. Third quarter of the Nineteenth century, of French origin, after an early Eighteenth-Century model. Wearing a tricorn hat, frock coat and breeches. He stands with one leg raised on a tree trunk, as he ties his skates beside the ice. He looks up, smiling with one skate at his foot. Condition: Good condition with nice patination, few old tiny losses to marble base edge, no evidence of a foundry mark. Measures Height: 11.5" (29.5cm). Diameter: (of marble base) 6.5” (17cm).
