About the Item

This is a Santo de Palo/Hand Carved Wood of Virgin of Monserrat Sculpture with Niche by Arce. It depicts a hand painted Virgin of Monserrat seated with Baby Jesus in her lap. Her head is adorned with a silver metal crown. The Virgin sculpture is supported by a black color rectangular shaped base. It is inside a colorful niche with scalloped upper border that has some silver metal miracles charms hanging in the front of the entrance and also at the top. She is venerated in Spain and also in Puerto Rico after the legend that tells that she saved a farmer from a bull in Hormigueros, a town in the western region of the island.
