Austrian Orientalist Bronze of an Arab Rug Merchant by Bergman c.1910
About the Item
This exceptional large Orientalist style bronze is marked Bergman, one of early twentieth-century Vienna’s most famed producers. Crafted from cold-painted bronze, and depicts a rug merchant displaying his wares. The rug is richly detailed and the man’s dress is superbly cast and finished. The underside of the sculpture is marked 'B', for Bergman.
