A Continental 19th century bronze & ormolu statues by Emile Guillemin

About the Item

A lovely and high quality true pair of small scale Continental 19th century patinated, silvered bronze and ormolu statues by Emile Guillemin. Each statue is raised by a circular mottled base with a ground like design where the signature is displayed. Cards, a beer stein and a broken glass are scattered on the floor. The statues each depict two men, each with one man wishing to engage in a fight seemingly over a game of cards, while the other men restrain them. One man looks to draw his sword, while the other already has his sword drawn which displays the inscription TOLEDO. All are dressed in finely detailed period attire and display wonderful attention to detail throughout. All original gilt and silver throughout.
