Old Paris Porcelain Jewelry Box Casket Bisque Parian Sculpture Rare

About the Item

Amazing Old Paris porcelain box with figural parian sculpture group on the top. The box features a mix of hand painted and transferred gold detailing accented by lavender and seafoam glaze. The form is remarkable, with elaborately detailed claw feet, delicately twisted handles, crest-like adornments and curtain swags. Atop the lid is a amazing detailed Parian sculpture celebrating the story of Romulus and Remus. The twins are being fawned over and ultimately saved by the two maidservants. Great antique condition with the following imperfections natural to item's age and us: few original fire cracks and gilt wear, .some missing fingers and chips on Parian figures, professional touch up to the child figure. Generally very fine presentation. Old Paris, circa 1870 Size: H 12", W 12", D 7".
