Circa, 1950’s.
Talk about a power couple!!! Aren’t these Asian style Chinoiserie decorative statues PHENOMENAL??? Well, we certainly think so! They are comprised of bright red plastic-coated plaster that looks comparable to cinnabar; hence our “faux cinnabar” reference and they are adorned with shades of black and brown and highlighted beautifully with gold details. They stand confidently at about 29 inches tall, and this couple is dressed to impress!!! The female Geisha wears her long trim kimono complete with a gold belt and pendant holding a ruffled front skirt and oversized draped sleeves with gold trim. Her hair is pinned into a high bun with a lovely headdress, and she has flowers delicately resting upon her ears. She cradles a bouquet with twisted vines that fall to the base of the sculpture, and she exudes feminine fabulous-ness! And right beside his beautiful Geisha stands her handsome Asian gentleman. His presence is powerful and masculine. He holds several scrolls rolled and tucked under his left arm and a single scroll that is open and veiled to the base of the sculpture with scribbles of manuscript that’s information has been left to your imagination. He has a long, glorious neatly kept kung fu style beard and a fantastic, embellished crown upon his head. His ruffled cloak and oversized sleeves with gold trim compliment and match his lady and the intricate carved details in their faces resonate peace, love, and chinoiserie excellence. They are exactly what you’ve been looking for to add a bit of Asian flare to your home. They would be fabulous together on a buffet or credenza in your family, dining, or living room or separate them and put one on each end table next to your sofa. No matter where you decide to place them, they exude a peaceful aura and have an exquisite presence that will grace your home for years and years. Don’t let this incredible pair of Asian style sculptures pass you by… Make them yours!!

View All4 Mid-20th Century Asian Cast Bronze Figures on Black Wood Plaques Signed Gansu
Located in Topeka, KS
Marvelous vintage Asian plaques of cast bronze figures mounted on black painted plywood backgrounds signed Gansu, set of 4. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, each plaque background has had a fresh coat of black paint however, they still have nicks, dings, and chiggers appropriate with age. We added new hangers, and the bronze figures retain their original patinated finish. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Mid-20th Century.
If you are a lover of arts and culture, we have the perfect plaques for you!! We have four marvelous cast bronze Asian figures articulating extraordinary expressions of what we believe to be visual arts, culinary arts, musical arts, and performance arts. Each cast bronze figure is mounted upon a rectangular freshly painted black plywood base plaque, each bearing differing patina or signs appropriate with age such as nicks or dings that we feel only enhance the beauty of their presence. As a matter of fact, this particular set of four was among my mother’s personal collection for many years, so it holds a special place in my heart for sure!! In our research we discovered that Gansu is a province in north-central China. Its city Jiayuguan is best known for the magnificent Great Wall. Awesome!! Each cast bronze figure exudes their own form of art, celebrating life and all of the beauty that comes with it. One holds a serving tray with a couple of glasses and a carafe… in my world there is probably a delicious red wine inside that carafe just waiting to pass through my lips!! Whatever it may be, it must be something lovely, delicious, and a bit mysterious! Another figure embraces an incredible sculpture that drapes from the tip of her shoulder, under her arm, and secretly swoops behind her. Behold… a vision of loveliness left to your imagination … a puzzling and optically pleasing piece of artistry. While another figure proudly plays a flute, twinkling their fingers across the keys… filling the air with joyful notes & sounds that tickle your ears… But let’s not leave out the last figure dancing blissfully to the beat… skipping and shuffling her bare feet in the sand. And did you notice everyone is dressed to the T’s!! Gorgeous cloaks, gowns, Hanfu, headdresses, obis, wraps, and jewels!! What a PARTY...

20th Century Asian Sculpture Guan Yu Chinese Warrior Hand Carved Rosewood
Located in Topeka, KS
Handsome vintage Asian Chinoiserie rosewood Guan Yu or Chinese warrior hand carved larger scale sculpture. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 20th Century.
A warrior is one who sacrifices himself for the good of others. His task is to take care of the elderly, the defenseless, those who cannot provide for themselves, and above all, children- the future of humanity. This is a magnificent vintage Chinese warrior or Guan Yu sculpture comprised of stunning rosewood with intricately hand carved details and a removeable guandao (Chinese pole weapon). In Chinese culture, General Guan Yu represents loyalty and valor. People believe that by having his image in art or sculpture in their home will protect their family from harm. And while we don’t believe he is going to break out with any actual martial arts moves; his fearless presence commands the room and demands attention! You may notice that in some of the photos our warrior friend is holding his guandao upside-down, don’t judge! Even the best of warriors tend to get exhausted from a long day of defending humanity and protecting mankind. A guy can get a little turned around! Just look at his expression… he is OVER it!! His hand is even up gesturing as if to say, “Talk to the hand!” LOL!! He is handsomely dressed from head to toe in full body armor and his long beard or Fu Manchu is flowing in the breeze. He stands proud upon a rounded square base at about 24 inches tall, so he is definitely larger scale, he will be fabulous in ANY room of your home, and he is the EPITOME of Chinoiserie excellence! Don’t let this incredible hand carved rosewood Chinese warrior sculpture...
