Kinetic light sculpture ‘Struttura Tricroma’ by Giovanni Anceschi, Italy 1963

About the Item

Important kinetic light sculpture ‘Struttura Tricroma’ by Giovanni Anceschi (Milan, 1934), Italy, 1963. This work is one of the most significant pieces by Giovanni Anceschi: a 'magic box' consisting of three light sources, a motor with a slowly turning propeller, a metal grit panel, and a special acrylic diffuser, creating a stunning, changing scene of RGB colors and graphic patterns. If preferred, the motor can be turned on or off to any chosen scene without influencing the beauty of the projection, due to the double switch. Anceschi is considered a master and a prominent pioneer figure in kinetic art; furthermore, he was co-founder of the pivotal Kinetic and Programmed Art group ‘Gruppo T’ in 1959. The members of 'Gruppo T' were influenced by the technological advancements of their time and believed that technology could be integrated into art to challenge the traditional interpretation of aesthetics and the role of the artist. 'Struttura Tricroma' represents this ideology, functioning both as an aesthetic object and a scientific experiment. His work can be found in important private and public collections, such as the permanent collection of Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna in Rome, Museo del Novecento in Milan, Gallerie d’Italia in Milan, and MACBA in Buenos Aires. Provenance: Galleria del Cavallino Milano (1963). The work is provided with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist. The work is in excellent condition.
