About the Item

Paolo Soleri Special Order Large 55 inch Brutalist Windbell 1975 Cast aluminum, patinated bronze, and copper 55 h × 13 w × 7½ d in Cast artist's cipher to body. Condition: Natural patina with verdigris tints and tonal variation consistent with bronze and copper elements. Soleri was an Italian-American architect, urban theorist, and visionary best known for his experimental work in sustainable architecture and his handcrafted bronze and ceramic wind bells. A former apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright, Soleri founded the Cosanti Foundation and later established Arcosanti, an ongoing urban laboratory in the Arizona desert exploring his concept of “arcology” (architecture + ecology).
