About the Item

A handcrafted art glass perfume bottle with a glass stopper, made in the late 1980s by the world-renowned Scottish glassmakers Caithness. Named Jasmine, this collectible piece was designed by Colin Terris, best known for his famous Caithness paperweights. Terris brought his signature attention to detail and artistic innovation to this vintage perfume bottle. The bottle features a striking double-spherical body with a slender neck that gracefully flares to hold a classic ball-shaped stopper, crowned by a spiked peak. The body showcases a swirl of brown and black mottled tortoiseshell glass, set against the subtle lavender hue of neodymium glass. Neodymium, a rare earth element, is highly valued in art glass for its ability to produce dramatic colour shifts. When added to glass, it creates a range of hues from soft purples to vibrant blues depending on lighting conditions, a property that gives Alexandrite glass its distinctive character. In very good condition, this Caithness perfume bottle measures 15 cm in height and 6 cm in diameter. A unique and collectible example of Scottish art glass craftsmanship.
