18th Century Dutch Delft Pottery Blue and White Vase Jar Urn Antiques LA CA. A very fine 18th century Dutch Delft Blue and White pottery vase or jar. Of typical vasiform shape with medium and deep blue Chinoiserie landscape decoration, decorated border to the top rim, and Mirrored Circles at the base . Hand painted in shades of cobalt blue with a continuous scene of flowers, leaves . at the bottom you can see shades of what is called Orange peal through the glazing typical of the period . A Very nice decorative element in a farm house a winery or even in a traditional design Place this vase in a room with other colors, in a formal dining in a library or living room side table , on a kitchen counter or on a Desk, this piece is very versatile and exudes elegance and charm . Much of the finest Delft were produced in the Dutch city of Delft. They then began to cover the white tin-glaze with clear glaze, which gave depth to the fired surface and smoothness to cobalt blues. Over time they created a good resemblance to porcelain. By circa 1650 the technical skills of the potters and painters were much improved, and Delft began its golden age.
