19th Century Neoclassical Polychrome Pitcher

About the Item

A brightly colored English Neoclassical pitcher, made circa 1850 by Samuel Alcock & Co. The pitcher is glazed with lively colors--burgundy, cerulean, teal, peach--all accented with fine gilding. The transferware pattern depicts scenes from the nuptials of Paris and Helen, the event that began the Trojan War. Dimensions: 7 in. H x 4 3/4 W at widest point Condition: Excellent. Light all over crazing. Provenance: The Collection of Barry R. Harwood and Joseph V. Garry
