19th Century Royal Worcester Blush Porcelain Pitcher

About the Item

A beautiful blush porcelain pitcher in the Aesthetic style, made by Royal Worcester in 1890. This small pitcher is decorated with hand-painted flowers in a naturalistic japonisme style, a style which was emblematic of the Aesthetic Movement. The muted color palette accented with gilding is placed on a warm Blush Ivory porcelain surface, a ceramic medium that was created by Worcester around 1890 and produced until around 1914. Our piece, created in 1890, is an early and fine example of Worcester Blush Ivory. Condition: Excellent Dimensions: 5 1/4 in. H x 4 in. D (13 cm H x 10 cm D).

A Wedgwood jardiniere with lilac and sage details on a white jasperware ground. Jasperware is perhaps the quintessential Wedgwood clay body and is even considered by some to be a ceramic development on par with porcelain. Originally developed in the 1770s as dyed stoneware bodies (the most ubiquitous of which is pale blue) with applied white figurative decoration in imitation of cameos from the Ancient World, jasperware quickly expanded to a plethora of colorways as per Wedgwood innovation standards. This jardiniere, with lilac and sage decoration on white jasperware ground, is part of Wedgwood’s tricolor jasperware...
