About the Item

Chinese Blue & White 'Prunus' Jar/Vase & Cover Early Qing Dynasty (1644–1911) This impressive Chinese Blue & White 'Prunus' Jar/Vase and Cover, dating to the Early Qing Dynasty, is a remarkable example of traditional workmanship and artistic elegance. Of substantial size for the period, the vase stands 18.5 inches high with a 9-inch diameter and a 6-inch diameter base. It is complete with its original Foo Dog lid, a classic symbol of protection in Chinese art. There are minor chips on the underside of the lid, discreetly hidden when the lid is in place, preserving the overall visual integrity of the piece. The vase is beautifully decorated with delicate flowering prunus branches, symbolizing resilience and renewal, intertwined with perched birds, all set against a rich cobalt blue 'cracked ice' ground. This dynamic design, blending nature and symbolism, reflects the refined aesthetic sensibilities of the Qing Dynasty. The vase is unmarked but bears a provenance label from Letitia Lundeen Old Porcelain, a respected dealer in Palm Beach, Florida, further enhancing its authenticity and history. Ready to be placed and admired, this stunning vase is a timeless piece of China’s artistic legacy, perfect for collectors or those looking to enrich their collection or interior with elegance and cultural depth. Consisting of Two Pieces, the Foo Dog Lid & the Jar/Vase Provenance: Bearing label Letitia Lundeen Old Porcelain, Palm Beach, Florida Overall Measurements: 18.5 inches high x 9-inch diameter; the diameter of the base is 6 inches.
