About the Item

This is Shigaraki ware pottery made in Shiga Prefecture, Japan. Shigaraki ware is said to have been born in the Shigaraki region of Shiga Prefecture around the 8th century and is one of the six ancient kilns representing Japan (the red circle on the map is the location of the Shigaraki kiln). This vase was fired from the end of the Muromachi period to the Momoyama period, and is characterized by its rounded, soft form and expressive clay surface. The beautiful brown gradation unique to Shigaraki ware can be seen, and it can be said to be art itself created by man and nature. In addition, a vase from the same period was published in an art book as a reference, so it is also published here. The greatest attraction of this product is the abundant exposure of small white minerals called "feldspar". You can see the places where the minerals are peeking out everywhere as if breaking through the surface of the pottery. The texture of the dried clay is rough like a biscuit, and it has a warm taste both to the touch and to the sight. Shigaraki ware, with its simple texture, has been extremely popular for many years among lovers of old Japanese ceramics. There is a chip at the mouth of the vase, but this is not recent damage and is thought to have been intentionally hit and broken for some practical purpose at the time. There is no other noticeable damage, and the overall condition is good. From an interior perspective, this vase has an exceptional presence. If you place it in a tokonoma alcove in a Japanese-style room or a simple modern space, it will bring depth and charm to the entire space. If you arrange branches or dried flowers in it, it will give the space an even more sophisticated impression. Also, if you place it in the entrance or entrance, it will be a special accent that quietly welcomes visitors. Another attractive feature is that it has no unnecessary decorations and a simple shape, so it blends in seamlessly with any interior style. In addition, since it is not glazed, it may leak if you pour water directly into it. When arranging fresh flowers, we recommend filling a separate container with water and placing it in the vase. Why not experience the quiet presence of this vase in your space? Weight: 6.2kg
