Very old Japanese excavated earthenware/Wabi Sabi vase
About the Item
This is earthenware excavated in Japan.
It has a very beautiful shape and is well balanced.
The color of the pottery is light brown because it is fired at a low temperature.
Depending on the amount of flame, some parts may be reddish or blackish and charred.
The 360-degree facial expressions are different, so you can enjoy watching them without getting bored.
This vase was made during the Yayoi period, and is thought to have been made in the latter half of that period, but it is certainly from before the 9th century.
The shape of earthenware from this period varies considerably in terms of the beauty of the finished product, with some having a well-shaped shape and others being slightly distorted.
However, in this case, the curve is beautiful and symmetrical.
The surface is also carefully stroked with a spatula to make it smooth.
The surface of the trumpet opening at the tip is decorated with a fine striped pattern.
This is very carefully made and you can tell that it was made by a skilled person.
Another characteristic of this era is the stripes on the bottom.
This was made by laying leaves on top of the bottom when shaping it, so the leaf pattern remains on that part.
Basically, that part is smoothed, so the leaf pattern disappears, but sometimes the pattern remains like this.
Also, since a similar item was published in an art book, I have included a photo of it as a reference. We also have information about the bottom part.
Regarding repairs that are believed to have been made after excavation,
Re-adhesion of the cracked part at the tip and re-adhesion of the bottom.
However, much of the structure survived without any damage, which is extremely fortunate.
It is in relatively good condition.
This is a very rare item.
it's recommended.
Also, since it is earthenware, please do not pour water directly into it.

- Beautifully shaped black earthenware/16th-17th century/Wabi-sabi vaseLocated in Sammu-shi, ChibaI would like to introduce you to a very beautiful form of time. This is probably an earthenware vessel made in Peru, South America. In Peru, there are many earthenware with many round curves, and many of them have polished and smooth surfaces. There are many objects with complicated shapes, but there are also objects with simple and practical shapes like this excavated. This one is black, but I think it originally had pale pink skin. However, it has turned black due to soot and charring. There is surface deterioration, but the condition is good and there are no major scratches. Please use it carefully because it is light and thin. It is a very beautiful curved vase. A Japanese collector used this excavated vase...Category
