Extraordinary Large And Tall Japanese Hand Thrown Wabi Sabi Vase

About the Item

A recent find from an old Japanese tea pottery collection This is an extraordinary Japanese shigaraki kiln hand thrown vase thrown in a "wabi sabi" outcome that high lights its handsome distorted opening and with its rich blue, green, and white glazing. Wabi sabi is Japanese craft as a purposely tilted creation. Luscious rich blue, green, and cream glazes cover its extremities. Used perhaps as a vase or water vessel, this superb example possesses some say -wabi-sabi - the Japanese aesthetic of perfection of the imperfection - that unmistakable sublime look and feel collectors seek and covet. It has no repairs or damages and retains bottom pads. We were very lucky to have found this one from our recent acquisitions in Japan. Dimensions: 17.5 inches tall Provenance: old Kyoto/Shiga tea art collection Only one. Irreplaceable. Wabi-sabi is a concept in traditional Japanese aesthetics constituting a world view centred on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete". It is a concept derived from the Buddhist teaching of the three marks of existence , specifically impermanence , suffering and emptiness or absence of self-nature. Lifetime guarantee of authenticity: All of our Asian works of art come with our Lifetime Authenticity Guarantee.

  • Japanese Old Small Pottery Vase / Wabi Sabi Flower Vase
    Located in Sammu-shi, Chiba
Since ancient times, people have created and passed down necessary tools from familiar materials to survive in the severe struggle against nature, and have nurtured a lifestyle culture. By using these objects over a long period of time, they accumulate their flavor and reflect the way of life. The more severe the natural environment and the weaker we are, the stronger their power becomes. In today's world, where cheap and disposable products are encouraged, the act of repeatedly re-creating the things around us by modifying them opens up a new world. With this philosophy in mind, we collect beautiful, powerful, unique, and carefully selected antique objects from Japan. This is an old small Pottery vase...
