Japanese antique excavated jar / excavated earthenware / “Sueki”/ flower vase

About the Item

※Artificial flowers shown in the photo are not included. Sue pottery is called "sueki" in Japanese. Earthenware that was baked at low temperatures is now being baked at high temperatures due to the development of kiln technology. It is a light gray pottery. Born in Osaka, "sueki" is gradually being made in various parts of Japan. This pot is a relatively orthodox one among Sueki, and is called ``cho-keiko'' in Japanese. This means a long-necked jar. Around the 9th century. Although it is not very decorative, it has a very neat and beautiful shape, and its simple shape has a timeless charm. Also, although this is an excavated item, many of the Sue ware are scratched or missing. However, there was only a small flake at the tip of the mouth, and luckily there were no other major injuries. I also filled it with water and left it for a day, but there was no leakage. It can be said to be in relatively good condition. It will not stand on its own as it is, but we have prepared a ring made of string, so please place the pot on top of it. A wooden box for storage is also included. A similar item was published in an art book, so I am including a photo of it as a reference. Why not display this beautiful, streamlined vase in your home? Weight: 0.95kg
