Beautiful Korean antique earthenware/gray excavated flower vase
About the Item
I have received some very beautiful Korean excavated earthenware.
This earthenware excavated in Korea is believed to be from the 9th century or earlier.
It must have been made in a country called Baekje or Silla during the period when Korea was divided into several countries (the Three Kingdoms period).
Kingdoms period, began to be fired at high temperatures around the middle of the 4th century.
Firing at high temperatures of over 1000 degrees Celsius makes the pottery harder and more resistant to cracking.
The color of the pottery is light or dark gray.
When tapped with a finger, it makes a metallic sound.
It was used for practical purposes, ritual vessels, and also as burial objects for powerful people.
A similar item was published in the art book, so the photo is posted as a reference material.
Originally, there was a pedestal as shown in this photo, and it is possible that this vase was placed on top of it.
This item has a slightly flattened bottom so it stands on its own.
Also, I put about 1/2 of water in it and left it for about 12 hours, but there was no leakage.
If you leave it in water for more than 2 days, it may get wet. Please be careful.
This is an excavated item, but miraculously there were no noticeable scratches.
It is in very good condition.
Although it is a small earthenware pottery, it has a strong presence and is attractive.
It is a highly recommended item.

- Beautifully shaped black earthenware/16th-17th century/Wabi-sabi vaseLocated in Sammu-shi, ChibaI would like to introduce you to a very beautiful form of time. This is probably an earthenware vessel made in Peru, South America. In Peru, there are many earthenware with many round curves, and many of them have polished and smooth surfaces. There are many objects with complicated shapes, but there are also objects with simple and practical shapes like this excavated. This one is black, but I think it originally had pale pink skin. However, it has turned black due to soot and charring. There is surface deterioration, but the condition is good and there are no major scratches. Please use it carefully because it is light and thin. It is a very beautiful curved vase. A Japanese collector used this excavated vase...Category
