Japanese antique pottery vase / "Sueki" Round jar/Earthenware excavated in Kyoto

About the Item

We have an aesthetic sense peculiar to Japanese people. And we introduce the unique items that only we can do, the route of purchasing in Japan, the experience value so far, and the way that no one can imitate. Sue pottery is called "sueki" in Japanese. Earthenware that was baked at low temperatures is now being baked at high temperatures due to the development of kiln technology. It is a light gray pottery. Born in Osaka, "sueki" is gradually being made in various parts of Japan. This is called "sage be" in Japan, and it is not known in detail what it was used for. The protruding part was originally in the shape of a ring. It is believed that it was used by hanging a string through the ring. As the times progressed, people at that time stopped hanging it, and it changed its shape to the shape of a protrusion. This is an item that allows you to see the changes in its shape. This item is from before the 9th century. Also, since a similar item was published in an art book, I have included a photo of it as a reference. And this is what was discovered in Kyoto. The excavation location is written in ink on the back of this pottery. Found in Kyoto Otsukuni District 〇〇 Taisho 5 = 1916 investigation The above was written. This is an area located southwest of Kyoto and adjacent to Osaka. The letters marked ○○ were so faded that I could not decipher them. I learned that it was excavated in 1916. Also, the red text on the left side says that the excavator gave this pottery to someone as a gift. It's in good condition and looks cool, so I guess it was given to someone as a gift. It is very rare to find out the excavation site, but this one happened to have some writing written on it, so luckily I was able to locate it. "About the condition of the item" *Flowers shown in this photo are not included. I filled it with water and left it for a day, but there was no leakage. You can put flowers directly into it. In addition, there is a small chip in the mouth area. This is only a part of the surface chipped, so it does not seem to affect the viewing experience. The tip of the protrusion on the right side of the front is missing, but it is not a noticeable part, so it does not seem to affect the viewing experience. Weight: 770g I think it's a rare item. Why not try displaying it at home?
