About the Item

A monumental antique Doulton Lambeth terracotta garden urn. This urn has an interesting and intricate design, decorated with applied floral garlands, with the makers stamp inside the bowl. Dating from the Victorian era, this elaborate urn will stand out as the centrepiece of a garden or courtyard. Doulton & Co. Doulton & Co. have been pioneers of the pottery and ceramics world for more than 200 years. Better known today as ‘Royal Doulton’, the company was established in 1815 in Lambeth, London. The third quarter of the 19th century saw an increased demand for architectural and sculptural terracotta. Doulton & Co. were amongst others in designing a huge range of unglazed terracotta and garden ornaments, including this 19th century window planter.
