About the Item

Danish Mid-century ceramic vase from the Aluminia (later brandname Royal Copenhagen) "Tenera" series. This vase was manufactured in the 1960s. The decor with dark blue berries was designed by Norwegian designer Grethe Helland-Hansen and the shape was designed by Nils Thorsson. The decor is handpainted and the surface is tactile. The "Tenera" series was initiated in 1958 when the artistic director of Aluminia Nils Thorsson invited young female Scandinavian designers to create new modern designs for Aluminia. From 1961 their designs were branded with the name "Tenera". From 1969 the production of the "Tenera" series continued under the brandname Royal Copenhagen. This vase is from the early production with the Aluminia brandname. The vase is fully marked on bottom with Alumina backstamp including the 3 waves, the initials of Grethe Helland-hansen and the painter. The vase is a factory first edition and in a very good vintage condition.
