Brown Tortoiseshell Textured Art Glass Vase by Mdina c.1970s

About the Item

A richly textured art glass vase by Mdina, handcrafted in Malta during the 1970s. The surface treatment evokes the classic tortoiseshell effect, with mottled fields of deep brown layered over translucent amber-orange glass. This organic palette is punctuated by delicate flashes of cobalt blue and bright yellow, applied in fine, fluid lines that wind subtly across the surface. What distinguishes this example is its tactile quality: the body is punctuated by softly arched bubbles that rise gently from the surface, creating a rhythm of texture that complements the depth of colour beneath. It's a confident exercise in balancing form, tone, and surface complexity—hallmarks of Mdina’s experimental period. Measuring 20 cm in height and 8 cm in diameter. In very good vintage condition, with no structural damage or restoration noted.
