About the Item

Japanese contemporary decorative porcelain vase, intricately hand-painted in red, blue and pink by acclaimed award-winning master porcelain artist from the Imari-Arita region of Japan.The artist is the recipient of numerous awards for his signature gold and platinum work on porcelain. In 2016, the British Museum added a work by this artist to its collection of contemporary Japanese porcelain – a large lidded jar in the Imari-Arita polychrome enamel tradition. The artist's profile is available upon request. This attractive vase showcases garceful horses in a beautiful blue strolling , set against a stunning background of delicate cherry blossom petals in red, blue and gold. a beautiful thin rope in a soft pink is tied around the elegant neck of the vase with two tassels hanging, adding to the beauty of this unique piece. “Fired-on gold,” this artist’s signature style, highlights unique techniques for incorporating gold and platinum into the hand painting and multiple firing processes that yield a stunningly opulent look. The polychrome overglaze is fired at 800 degrees, followed by the application of gold and platinum that are fired at slightly lower temperature to maintain the luster of the precious metals. As a result, a single piece may undergo as many as 5-10 firings. This striking hand painted porcelain vase comes in a custom made wooden case signed by the artist. Dimensions: H 9 in D 5 in.

Chinese Export Vase porcelain Blue & White hand painted dragons, Circa 1950

This is an elegant porcelain Chinese export porcelain Bottle Vase raised on a low foot, all hand painted in a blue and white dragon pattern, which we date to the mid 20th century, circa 1950. The vase is fairly large and very well hand potted in a Classic bottle shape on a low foot having a clear white glaze with a light blue tinge. The base is also glazed to the centre and the foot rim has been carefully hand-cut. The vase is finely hand painted in a large range of cobalt blue tones from a light blue to a deep dark, almost black tones of cobalt blue, all around the body with two five toed dragons dancing among clouds. There are border patterns around the foot rim and the lower body all between blue circles with double blue circles just below the top rim. The base has a carefully hand painted underglaze-blue six-character apocryphal Qing - Qianlong ( 1736 to 1795) seal mark, though we date this vase to the mid 20th century.
