"Cubist Roses, " Large and Rare Art Deco Vase by Olin for Primavera, France
About the Item
Large, rare and strikingly handsome, this high vase was designed by Sigismund Olesiewicz (who later took the French name Jean Olin) for Primavera and produced by the famous Longwy works in France in the 1930s. He was a designer in the famous Primavera shop established by Le Printemps department store, painted numerous easel paintings, and decorated a number of church interiors. Here he presents stylized roses on a gridded trellis, the flowers fractured in the Cubist manner, and brilliantly realized in vivid tones of Kelly green, rust and jet black.
