About the Item

An attractive and most elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. Belle Époque period etched Glass, Ormolu, and Brèche Meduse marble vase. This beautiful vase is raised by a circular mottled edge Brèche Meduse marble base with an Ormolu socle above decorated with hanging acanthus leaves. The round tapered Glass body is held at its base by a pierced Ormolu bracket decorated with scrolling acanthus leaves and berried laurel vines. The Glass body is beautifully designed with etched strokes of finely detailed swaging floral garlands attached by bowed ribbons. The socle shaped Glass top piece is held in place by a reeded top and bottom Ormolu rim with pierced Ormolu handles on either side. Each decorative handle contains scrolling designs, acanthus leaf reserves, and slender topie shaped bottom finials. The socle shaped top is tastefully designed with lattice patterns around the bottom and fine scrolling foliate vines at the neck.
