Japanese Antique Large Pottery Vase 1860s-1900s / Mashiko
About the Item
This large ceramic vase was made in Mashiko, Japan. Mashiko is a traditional and famous region for pottery.
It dates from the Meiji period (1860s-1900s).
It is generally black in color, but has a small amount of brown glaze.
Depending on the angle from which you view it, the paper may be tilted.
Fortunately, this ceramic vase is in beautiful condition with no cracks.
Please note that it cannot be filled with water.
This ceramic vase evokes the spirit of wabi-sabi, a Japanese philosophy that finds beauty in imperfection and impermanence.
Modest, humble, unconventional, the opposite of vulgarity.
A unique and very rare item.
Mouth size 175mm.
Weight about 15kg.
Since ancient times, people have created and inherited the necessary tools from familiar materials to survive in the harsh battle with nature, and have cultivated a lifestyle culture.
The longer you use things, the more flavor they gain and reflect your life.
In today's world where cheap, disposable products are encouraged, the act of repeatedly modifying and remaking everyday objects opens up new worlds.
Based on this philosophy, we carefully select and collect beautiful, powerful, and unique Japanese antiques.
