About the Item

Exquisite Japanese contemporary porcelain vase, intricately hand painted on an elegant gourd shape, a signed masterpiece by a Kutani master porcelain artist. The spirit of Kutani ware emerges as highly skilled craftsmen draw hairline images on white porcelain, which are tempered with heavily applied ornamental glazes. These glazes, when fired in the kiln, are converted into five colors of enamel, green, yellow, blue, purple and red. When they are combined with the bold designs and free-flowing drawings, elaborately worked pieces are created. This attractive piece depicts two scalloped panels with flower and bird motifs on white background. The panels are divided by intricately designed beloved pattern like scrolling vines and fish scale patterns in traditional Kutani colors. This exceptional porcelain piece comes in a custom made wooden case. Dimensions: H 12 in, D 4.5 in.
