Japanese Porcelain Vase in Red and Blue by Contemporary Master Artist

About the Item

Stunning contemporary decorative porcelain vase showcasing a blue and turquoise Phoenix gracefully extending its wings all around the body of the vase on a red background with a detailed flower pattern in gold. Phoenix has since ancient times been called the “king of birds” in China. The phoenix's gold details add another layer of excitement to this piece. This stunning piece showcases a blue and turquoise Phoenix gracefully extending its wings all around the body of the vase on a red background with a detailed flower pattern in gold. The phoenix's gold details add another layer of excitement to this piece. "Fired-on gold.” his signature style highlights unique techniques for incorporating gold and platinum into the hand painting and multiple firing processes that yield a stunningly opulent look. The polychrome overglaze is fired at 800 degrees, followed by the application of gold and platinum that are fired at slightly lower temperature to maintain the luster of the precious metals. As a result, a single piece may undergo as many as 5-10 firings. This elegant porcelain vase comes in a custom made wooden case signed by the artist. Dimensions: H 11 in, D 7 in.
