About the Item

Large Cypriot Brown Ware Storage Jar – Early-Middle Bronze Age (circa 2700-1900 B.C.) This impressive Cypriot brown ware storage jar, dating back to the Early-Middle Bronze Age (circa 2700-1900 B.C.), exemplifies the skill and artistry of ancient pottery. With its large globular form, narrow neck, and flared mouth, this vessel was likely used for storing essential goods in daily life. A striking incised band of trilinear zigzags adorns the shoulder, adding a decorative yet functional design element. The presence of a single lug suggests it may have been used for handling or securing the jar in place. A small hole on one side further reflects its history and usage over time. Weighing 3.8 kg and standing 33 cm (13 in.) tall, this substantial piece is a remarkable survivor of ancient Cypriot craftsmanship. With its rich patina and earthen texture, it serves as both a historical artifact and a compelling display piece, offering a direct link to Bronze Age civilization.
