About the Item

A tall “Le Verre Francais” cameo art glass vase (ca. 1922-25) decorated with bellflowers (campanulles) by the celebrated French designer Charles Schneider (1881-1953). Executed in the Art Nouveau/Art Deco style, this acid-etched vase has the right colors, perfect thematic design, and slender shape that is highly desirable to collectors and connaisseurs alike. It features beautiful burgundy and brown- toned flowers on a light yellow and pink mottled ground. It is signed on the base or pedestal in script “Le Verre Francais”, which is one of several ways that Schneider signed his works. In terms of its condition, the vase shows no obvious scratches or chips. It is in a near-perfect state with the only sign of wear to the underside of the base, i.e. the pontil. This is rather amazing considering its age. DIMENSIONS: Height: 10.88”. (27.6 cm) Diameter of vase: 3.5” (8.9 cm) Diameter of base: 3-13/16” (9.7 cm)
