Fulvio Bianconi Murano Venini Glass Bottle Vase, 1984

About the Item

Fulvio Bianconi is one of the most prolifdic post-war artists to work in collaboration with the Venini glassware company, a giant of 20th century glassmaking. His works are featured in prestigious collections and museums all over the world. As an illustrious graphic designer, Bianconi pushed the limits of glassmaking with his innovations to new heights. He transformed glassmaking from utilitarian pieces to works of highly creative artistic expression with his bold colors and stunning idiosyncratic design. This rare bottle-shaped vase features alternating blue and light gray vertical thin ribs. It is in excellent condition in our opinion. There are no visible scratches or chips to the exterior part of the vase except for a few small scratches to the underside of the base or pontil., which is normal for any vase. DIMENSIONS: Height: 15.38”. (39 cm) Diameter at the base: 3.63”. (9.2 cm) Diameter at flared rim: 2-1/16”. (5.2 cm)

  • Vintage Venini Murano Fulvio Bianconi Incalmo Mouth Blown Glass Vase
    By Venini, Fulvio Bianconi
    Located in Brussels, BE
Among the many designs and different techniques he experimented within his collaboration with Venini, Fulvio Bianconi used the "A incalmo" technique which requires great mastery from the glassblowers. This is an "a doppio incalmo" vase which simply means a double incalmo. Cylindrical vase, composed of three distinct colors. The base in red glass, the intermediate part in transparent glass and the upper part in green glass. A rare color variation, a nod to the colors of Italy. The vases were obtained by merging several "rings" of molten glass. Designed in 1951, the vase is in very good condition. It was produced in the 1950s and bears the acid seal "venini murano italia". The vase is published in many books, and is sometimes misattributed to Thomas Stearns who will be inspired by these forms and these particular techniques developed by Fulvio Bianconi, Paolo Venini and also Ricardo Licata...
