About the Item

Cylinder geometric vase designed by Lino Sabattini (1925-2016). A modernism sculptural piece created in 1970, by the Italian silversmith and designer Lino Sabattini. This piece was crafted in an edition of only 150 pieces is solid sterling silver. Weight: 690.85 grams (442.80 Dwt). Measures: 209.55 (8.25 by 2.25 Inches) Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's marks and signed, "LINO SABATTINI 66/150 FIAT". Lino Sabattini, born in Italy in 1925, it is still a teenager, during the Second World War while working in a copper factory that he begins to be interested in metal. He is interested in metallurgy but especially in materials and techniques of goldsmithing. Sabattini then did an informal pottery apprenticeship with the German ceramicist refugee in Italy, Roland Hettner. In 1955, he was thirty years old and moved to Milan where he created his own workshop dedicated to metal and met Gio Ponti, who encouraged his practice of design, wrote an article about him in the magazine Domus and exhibited his creations during the year. next in Paris, which draws international attention to Sabattini. From 1956 to 1963, while still active in Milan, he became design director for Christofle Orfèvrerie, Paris. His signature is thus found on elegant everyday objects such as candlesticks, cutlery, kettles or vases whose innovative aesthetic tends towards a fusion of neoclassicism with modernism and minimalism. He also designed glassware and ceramics for Rosenthal, Nava and Zani & Zani. In 1964, he created his own manufacture Argenteria Sabattini in Bergamo near Como. A member of ADI, he participated in the Milan Triennial and won several prizes, including the gold medal in 1971 and the Golden Compass in 1979 at the Mostra Internationale del Arredamento in Monza. Collateral: It is accompanied by the certificate of authenticity signed and numbered by Sabattini and the original presentation box. Note: A very rare piece to found in this condition and with all the components. It is in perfect boxed mint condition. Condition: The overall condition of this piece is excellent.
