About the Item

Moritz vase, design Lino SABATTINI for Sabattini Silverware, in silver metal and glass base. ORIGIN Italy PERIOD 1990s DESIGNER Lino SABATTINI (1925-2016) was born in Correggio (Reggio Emilia) on September 23, 1925 to simple, hardworking people. ... As soon as he was 14, he found work in Como in a workshop making commonplace brassware. This is not a random choice. Soon he gets his hands on an issue of "Domus," Gio' Ponti's magazine. It becomes his textbook, his Bible, his correspondence school. In the brassware store he makes a living, but he also learns metalworking skills. ... Sabattini now in his thirties left Blevio to move to Milan where he set up a small workshop in a basement with the tools essential to his work. Ties with "Domus" intensify. Now he also knows young architects, student students of Gio' Ponti. One of them brings the master some metal objects created by the young craftsman. One day Ponti shows up at her door. Look, touch, give him an idea to develop. Only three days pass and Sabattini finishes the job. Bridges gets excited about it. Thus began the relationship of friendship marked by milestones... From 1958 to 1963 he worked in Paris and Milan for the famous Christofle house, trying unsuccessfully to sweep away worn-out, soulless productions. In 1964 he moved to Bregnano, a small town between Como and Milan. He became an entrepreneur of his own ideas, his own sensibility, his own diversity that found no place in the contemporary productive world. Thus began his lonely adventure, which came to fruition at Sabattini Argenteria, where he created the most limpid and veiny forms in silver Source: Sabattini MARK Sabattini silverware MODEL Moritz MATERIALS Silvered metal, glass base DIMENSIONS H 27 cm Ø 5 cm CONDITIONS The pot is in excellent condition, as can be seen from the attached photos.
