About the Item

Pino Signoretto (Italian, 1944-2017) Murano Glass Vase. Pino Signoretto worked with some of the greatest Murano glass artists of all time including Livio and Angelo Seguso, Ermanno Nason and, of course, Alfredo Barbini, his teacher and mentor. By the age of 16, he earned the title of maestro. In 1960, he became a master glass blower and in 1978 he opened his own atelier in Murano. He collaborated with many well-known artists including Pablo Picasso, Salvatore Dali, Dale Chihuly and Jeff Koons. Over his lifetime, he has won many prestigious awards. Chihuly once remarked that Signoretto was “one of the greatest glass sculptors of our time” while the legendary Barbini noted that his student was the type of glass maestro that come along once in a century. Signoretto’s works are to be found in all the major museums of the world. This particular unusual and unique vase was created in the mid 1980’s and is made in off-white clear glass infused with gold dust and flecks. The interior of the vase is silky smooth while the exterior is heavily textured. It has applied inversely oriented prunts. The vase, in our opinion, is in excellent condition. DIMENSIONS: Height: 12.25 in. (31.1 cm.) Width: 9.63 in. (24.4 cm.) (Prunt to prunt) Depth: 8.25 in. (21 cm.)
