About the Item

An exquisite rare miniature stoneware vase of bulbous form, with tiny twin handles and a long neck, covered with a flowing strong blue glaze, crystalline in places, on a yellow ground. By the ‘Pierrefonds’ French ceramic studio in Oise, Picardie, north of Paris. It was a pottery established in 1903 by Olivier de Sorra, Count Hallez D’Arros, at Pierrefonds, a village at the foot of the famous majestic Ducs d’Orléans castle. Marked with the customary Pierrefonds company cachet - an impressed heraldic devise consisting of a medieval helmet with visor flanked by the letters ‘F’ for ‘Faiencerie’ and ‘H’ for ‘Heraldique’, underlined by the name ‘Pierrefonds’. They were famed for their striking blue and green colours, specialized in Art Nouveau ceramic forms and particularly known for crystalline and flambe glazes of superb quality, both of which are displayed on this superb pot. In perfect original condition with no restoration.     Please note that the flash photography may make the colours slightly brighter than they are in real life.
