About the Item

Carl-Harry Stålhane is one of Scandinavia’s most characteristic ceramic designers of all time. Stålhane was the Artistic Leader of Rörstrand (Lidköping) starting in the mid 50s. At the same time as he was active at Rörstrand, he was appointed part-time Head Teacher of ceramics and glass at the School of Art and Design in Gothenburg 1963-1971. Stålhane was the Design Manager at Upsala Ekeby for two years before he decided to start his own studio Designhuset in Lidköping 1973. At Designhuset he resumed his experiments with local clays and minerals, collaborating with other designers. In addition to exhibiting in Stockholm (1948 & 1949), Malmö (1949), New York (1960) and Tokyo (1966), Stålhane’s objects have been presented at Nationalmuseum in Stockholm and Museum of Modern Art in New York.
