About the Item

This is a good size, bird-shaped bottle/wine holder from the late 1960s early 1970s by De Stijl Firenze, a renowned Italian company known for its elegant mid-century designs. This bottle holder fits comfortably a normal sized bottle of wine on the wood base and the bird hugs elegantly the remaining bottle. It is made of hand curved wood and a brass plated metal, it has a gently aged patina. The body has a minimalist, organic shape that mimics the form of a bird a classic for De Stijl. Signed sticker on the base This piece would make a stylish addition to any bar or home decor. Originally hailing from India, the sculptor completed degrees in painting, sculpting, and product design at the prestigious Maharaja Sayajirao University before moving to the U.S. for his M.A. in Sculpture at Wayne State University and M.A. in Fine Art at Cranbrook in 1965.
