About the Item

A set of eight pure linen cocktail napkins, by artist and designer Georges Briard (1917–2005) — a name that has for more than a century been a marker of spectacular and stylish vintage glassware, serveware and other household objects from the Mid-Century Era. The central image is bordered on all sides by a running geometric border also in gold. Machine stitched hems. Each napkin shows the Briard signature. Georges Briard created award-winning designs for items including glasses, trays, coffeepots and dishes in materials like glass, ceramics, metal, wood, and gold-plated serveware. His serveware was especially popular from the 1950s to ’70s. It was produced by companies including Culver, Pfaltzgraff and Mdina Glass and sold at high-end department stores like Neiman Marcus and Bonwit Teller. William Ridgway English Staffordshire Transferware Platter, Flosculous Pattern
By William Ridgway
Located in Philadelphia, PA
A black on white transfer printed floral platter in the Flosculous pattern, William Ridgway & Co., Shelton, Hanley, Staffordshire England, circa 1830-1854. A gently scalloped black-printed platter in an unusual borderless pattern. Alternating floral sprays extend outward — from a three part scroll motif in the center — up the well and onto the rim of the plate. The term ‘flosculous’ means having flowerets or composite-flowered. This stylized pattern feels very modern. 19 in. L x 15.25 in. W x 1.75 in H A printed urn...
