About the Item

A very fine pair of george iii silver based wine coasters made in London in 1776 by william plummer. The Wine Coasters are circular in form with a beaded base and rim. The sides are finely pierced with Neo Gothic pails, as well as Classical laurel leaf swags and raying flower heads in roundels. The front displays a circular cartouche engraved with a contemporary Crest. The Coasters have silver bases, a design which was made for, and popular with, the upper echelons of society. Both are in excellent condition and are very well marked. William Plummer was a prolific pierced worker who made very fine baskets and wine coasters. Additional information: Diameter: 4.6 inches, 11.5 cm. Height: 1.5 inches, 3.75 cm.
