Purple Agate Mortar and Pestle, France 1970s Elegant octagonal agate mortar and pestle with a smooth surface. Likely used (originally) for crafting perfumes, or in chemistry blends. Can be used in the kitchen for grinding or crushing any kind of seeds, herbs or spices. The purple semi-translucent stone reveals warm, rosy hues under sunlight. The piece bears subtle marks of its past, with fine white streaks visible on two sides of the base (visible on the photos). Very delicate object !
