About the Item
Designed by Alphonse La Paglia for International Sterling, set of 8 sterling silver dessert bowls in Mid-Century Modern style and in an elegant, geometric design. They measure 3 1/4'' in height by 4'' in diameter at the top, weigh 45 troy ounces, and bear hallmarks as shown.
Alphonse La Paglia (1907-1953), a Sicilian-born silversmith who studied and trained with Georg Jensen, designed this special line for International Sterling in 1952, for only 1 year.
The International Silver Company was formed in 1898 by various independent New England silversmiths that, between 1898 and 1903, joined themselves together to form a company that became the world's largest manufacturer of silverware. The International Silver Co. was organized with an authorized capital of $20,000,000.
