About the Item

A Mid-century butcher's block. Solidly crafted from beech wood. Since the Middle Ages, the profession of butcher has been one of the most respected and lucrative occupations. Even back then, the first butcher's blocks were created with a slab consisting of many individual pieces of hardwood set upright in a frame to ensure the most durable work surface possible. The principle has remained the same to this day. This model from the 1950s still bears witness to the quality of these rare pieces. Decades of hard work on the furniture have given the work surface and the knife slot a partially organic shape. After being refurbished, this work table shines in new splendour. Placed in a private kitchen or a restaurant, it is both practical and of enormous decorative value. A straight-lined base with four square legs on industrial castors and high frame with 2 drawers. On top is the solid worktop with knife slot and backboard. Dimensions Height: ~86 cm or 99 cm (including backboard) / ~33.85 inch or 38.97 inch (including backboard). Width: 149.5 cm / 58.85 inch. Depth: 70 cm (top) or 64 cm / 27.55 inch (top) or 25.19 inch. Inner dimensions of the drawer: 16.5 cm (6.49 in.) high, 52 cm (20.47 in.) wide, 41 cm (16.14 in.) deep Good authentic, slightly restored condition. Among other things, the surface has been completely sanded, shrinkage cracks filled and resealed. New industrial castors fitted. On request, the castors under the legs can be removed. The furniture can be transported in 2 parts, the lower section and the top.
