Exquisite Antique French Ormolu & Sèvres-Style Porcelain Centerpiece (Mid-1800s)

About the Item

A very good quality antique French ormolu and porcelain center piece dating from the mid 1800’s. Very much in the Sèvres style this center piece boasts both quality and grandeur. Wonderfully executed and hand painted with a reclining putto holding a basket of fruit , his little wings protruding from his floating pink echarpe , the cartouche painted on a white background with a Bleu de Roy porcelain body. The back of the piece has a hand painted cartouche of flowers. The porcelain body sits in a gilded bronze surround, with moulded leaves for handles and reticulated gild bronze designs running along the rim of the porcelain bowl. The whole sits on a gilded bronze triangular base with three dolphins holding up the bowl.
