Our Napoleon III-style surtout de table, which dates to circa 1900, would make an impressive addition to any dining table. Measuring over 50 inches long and 32 inches wide, this surtout de table features a large piece of shaped glass encircled by an animated scene of a putti hunting party. In each corner of the frame is a pair of gilt bronze putti, facing in opposing directions, armed with a spear. All the cherubs are resting on curled leaves that emerge from a pierced, segmented console. The foliage, which has a fluted ground, continues around the frame, enhancing the sinuosity of the mirror.
