About the Item

The soft design and sinuous form of The Flat make this centrepiece a small table sculpture. Entirely handcrafted in Italy, The Flat has a thin satin-finished brass base that suspends the curvy deep blue element in mould-blown glass. The slight central hollow can hold fruit, small floral arrangements, candles or small objects. However, it is also perfect when empty as a precious decorative object. The Flat is part of "The Society", a family of products born from the collaboration between Paola C. and the creative duo Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu, renowned architects from Studio Neri & Hu. The family consists of objects with geometrically restrained sinuosity, functional and decorative pieces in glass, brass and wood designed to meet Paola C.'s aesthetic of an understated elegance in which the warmth of handcrafted material animates carefully designed forms. In "The Society" family, subtle references to the Far East meet typical Italian craftsmanship methods. The Flat is available in ink blue and warm yellow with a satin brass base, both available on 1stdibs. Each piece is produced by hand using an artisanal process, so each object may differ in colour gradation and glass thickness. These aspects should not be intended as flaws but as production merits that certify the quality and uniqueness of the object as well as the authenticity of the handcrafted production process. The glass part can be cleaned with a damp cloth and a standard glass spray or soaked in warm water and washed with a mild product. The brass base can be cleaned with a dry cloth and a specific product for brass and metals.
