About the Item
The Above Sea Level collection is a collaboration between Dutch designer Klaas Kuiken and the renowned ceramics workshop Cor Unum, combining experimental design with over 65 years of craftsmanship. Featuring three vases and a side table, the collection reflects Kuiken’s fascination with material transformation and Cor Unum’s expertise in ceramic production. Polystyrene molds were used to create porcelain pieces, with the molds’ textured structure visible in the final designs. Inspired by the grandeur of icebergs, each piece is named after a glacier—B-15, C-19, B-9, and D-28—creating a tactile and visual connection to nature. Kuiken’s innovative use of unconventional molds, paired with Cor Unum’s precision, results in a collection that merges raw texture with refined artistry.
